MIXED MEDIA

Children awaken and marvel at many artistic techniques adapted to their age: drawing (pencils, charcoal, pastels…), ecoline, watercolor, oil painting, pigments, Chinese ink, different printing techniques, modeling (clay), collages… We have small groups (10-12 children), creating a concentrated and relaxed atmosphere. At almost every session, children and teenagers discover new techniques, new materials, new aspects of artistic and plastic creation. We take each child on their creative path. Everything is proposed, nothing is imposed. The teachers hold a Master's degree and are multilingual, the courses are given in Fr/Eng.

COMIC STRIP

We are also offering a COMIC STRIP class. Your children will learn storytelling techniques, how to create a character, make it move, apply the rules of shadow and light, the laws of framing and perspective… Your kids will acquire as many tools as they need to express their world. REALISTIC DRAWING

This course is tailored to teach pencil drawing techniques to your children. They will master the materials: soft and hard pencils, the different erasers, how to blend… We will show them the techniques to reproduce faithfully textures, reflections, plays of light & shadow, transparencies, volumes… On program : flowers, portrait/self-portrait, still lifes, animals, various objects… Personal projects are welcome (for art schools applications f.i)

MIXED MEDIA

This course will give you the opportunity to try a lot of different techniques. In painting: aquarelle, acrylics, oil, pigments, inks, Chinese ink,... on different supports (papers, canvas...). In drawing: charcoal, graphite pencils, soft & oil pastels... In graphics: felts, posca's, collages,... Different aspects in the history of art will be approached : portraits, landscapes, still-lives, abstraction, printing techniques, sculpting with clay... Every student will be encouraged to believe in his/her creative potential and to experience that. These art courses are as well for beginners as for advanced people. Emphasis is on enjoying the process and discovering the inner self through art.

From time to time, we will do as well exercices from the Betty Edwards' Method "Drawing with your right brain". Those make it easy to learn in simple steps to draw the reality as it is: objects, perspective, portraits, hands...

OIL & ACRYLICS

This course is as well suited for beginners, as for persons who want to deepen their knowledge, rather in oil or/and acrylics. You will get familiarized with the basics: binders, solvants, varnishes... Color mixing rules, and how to create a strong composition, will be part of your programm. With oil or acrylic, one can obtain "easily" effects : translucency, chiara obscura, carnation, etc... It's all about the right mix of colors, textures, forms, intentions, spirit and movement. Feel free to submit your own projects. We have lots of documenation in the studio too.

DRAWING / WATERCOLOR

This Illustration course explores the fundamentals of several techniques and deploys the potential watercolors offers. From realism to abstraction, discover how to handle brushes and colors, through the mastery of paper and water. After having tackled the essential question of the material (the colors, the tools, the paper) we will quickly get to the heart of the matter: Washes and gradients, brush effects and filling methods, paper humidity, masking and use of reserves, material effects and other textures. Each Term is dedicated to one technique (watercolor, liquid inks, colour pencils) in order to explore the full potential of illustrative arts.

DRAWING

At first, you will learn the basics of drawing from nature : how to measure, how to recognize the shapes, understand the rules of perspective and composition and how to apply them. Further on, we will study portraiture and human figure and mostly use a black pencil, as we will look after the possibilities of tonal drawing (different greys, whites and blacks). Color study will be part of the program a bit later. During the last term, we will go outside and practice urban sketching.
